Amy Timms is an exciting young painter based in Bristol, the opportunity to record her making one of her stunning, intricate elegies to British wildlife was too good to miss. We began shooting in the depths of mid winter at Stokes Croft studios, Bristol.
And she was done, a stag defeated in the rut and dead from his wounds was lovingly rendered in gouache, ribbons entwined in his antlers.
Bristol’s finest Balkan folk fiends Sheelanagig (new album landing late spring 2012 ;)) stepped up to provide the soundtrack and together we all made this!!
Amy was a pleasure to work with, her compositional sense and feel for the nuances of the palette were a joy to behold, as was her patient devotion to her work – all of which I hope this video communicates. You can see more of her work on the right and if you’d like to find out more information about her and her forthcoming exhibitions please see here.
